The Rum Diary Review

Ok, I just want to start off by saying, what was the plot of this movie? The whole movie is just a blur now because of how much it sucked. Johnny Depp is a journalist that got a new job writing for a local paper in Puerto Rico. From what I've read online, this movie was supposed to be about Johnny Depp having trouble with the patriots on the island. But as a viewer, this movie had absolutely no plot. Johnny Depp is drunk quite a bit, and after a while you just get kind of sick of it... It's just scene after scene of pointless crap. It actually made me feel dirty for some reason. Johnny Depp actually acted quite well, as for Aaron Eckhart... he was horrible. There were some powerful scenes of the movie such as the "I bet you scream before I do" scene. I feel like this movie was trying to be something that it just wasn't. It also tried to be a comedy... what was that? I went to The Rum Diary thinking it would mess with my head, it didn't.

The Rum Diary

So the Rum Diary looks absolutely bizarre, in a good way. I've never particularly been a fan of Johnny Depp however he doesn't look like he's going to be bad in this. This is a movie about a journalist (Depp) who goes to Puerto Rico to do a story, but he's always drunk. This movie looks powerful, funny, and weird. It's based on a Hunter S. Thompson book, the last Hunter S. Thompson book to be made into a movie was Fear of Loathing in Las Vegas. Now from the looks of the Rum Diary trailer, this movie is sure to mess with your head, it looks even more bizarre then Fight Club. It also looks like there could be a twist somewhere along in the movie. Check out the trailer here:
