The Ides of March

So I just saw the Ides of March on Friday... and it was truly fantastic. However the first half of the movie or so dragged on quite a bit. But the moment the dirty politics start playing out, that's where it gets exciting. Ryan Gosling is just fantastic in this movie as well as Phillip Seymour Hoffman. George Clooney wasn't bad, but he didn't have a big enough part for me to determine whether he was really good. Now, this movie has a lot of dialogue, so if you're looking for a mindless political thriller blow em up movie, this isn't for you. The dialogue is what essentially made this movie, the level of intensity was just so great when the conversations went on. The cinematography was truly amazing in this movie. They had a shot that showed the silhouettes of Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Ryan Gosling arguing behind a giant American Flag, and that was awesome. The one thing I loved about this movie were the face shots of Ryan Gosling, you can tell by the look on his face how corrupt he really got throughout the whole movie. This movie is an easy 4/5 stars and I would recommend it to anyone who has the patience for a slow start, otherwise it's a great movie!
